  1. This is README.fweb-faq of the FWEB FAQ for the LitProg Mailing list.
  2. Please read this FAQ before posting to LitProg on FWEB questions.
  3. For information on archiving FTP sites, see below.

  6. conserve disk space.  You can obtain them from another site or generate
  7. them yourself.

  11. This directory should contain [modulo a site dependent choice of names]:
  12. [1] faq-fweb.texi  the Texinfo source file. Other versions (Info-text,
  13.                    DVI, PostScript...) can be produced with this one. 
  14.                    At least this is true if you have the GNU Texinfo package 
  15.                    [the latest version can be retrieved via Anon FTP from
  16.                    prep.ai.mit.edu in directory pub/gnu].
  17.                    A Makefile [6] for Info, DVI and shar is included.
  18.                    TeX or FWEB code included in this file is edited for 
  19.                    Texinfo: use [2] to copy code for your purposes.
  20. **IMPORTANT**      If you do not have Texinfo, process this like any
  21.                    TeX file using [5] -- no index is provided in this case.

  23. [2] faq-fweb       the text file made from [1] using makeinfo-1.49 
  24.                    (for the options, see [6]).

  35. [5] texinfo.tex    The macro package [version 2.90] for Texinfo. 
  36.                    Must be in your TEXINPUTS path. If you have it, 
  37.                    you may simply say "tex fweb-faq.texi" to get 
  38.                    ordinary TeX-output (but no index--if you want
  39.                    that, get Texinfo or print [3] or [4]).

  41. [6] Makefile       A very simple makefile. See header for usage. 
  42.                    Including a discussion of problems processing the 
  43.                    Texinfo source file. Maybe useful if you've just
  44.                    started using Texinfo.

  88. To retrieve the family of files, include SENDME FWEB.FAQ* in you mail to
  89. FILESERV.

  91. The plain text copy of the FAQ is available in [FILESERV.FAQ] as FAQ.FWEB
  92. and may be retrieved from FILESERV by including SENDME FAQ.FWEB in your
  93. mail to it.

  98. also there (unless, of course, you want this distribution also).

  103. If you're a local archive administrator, you may modify the information
  104. given here (file names, addresses or files like texinfo.tex which are
  105. already available at your site etc.). Especially if there are a lot of
  106. changes, this will avoid confusion. Please put a suitable modification
